I'd say pencil in the waterline of for something smokey on the lid. Liquids, I only like if they're in pen forms (like Kat Von D tattoo liner) but they can be messy, can take a while to dry completely. Gel are awesome, but might be a bit tricky if you're not used to using a brush. But they're definitely nice for neat sharp lines.
